SLHA ADOPTION OF CERTAIN HUD COVID-19 WAIVERS/Authorities (PHAs) in response to the COVID-19 national emergency.
Pursuant to the authority provided under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act (Public Law 116-136), the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued Notice PIH 2020-05, which waives and establishes alternative requirements for the Public Housing (PH) and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Programs, among others. These waivers provide administrative flexibilities and relief to public housing authorities (PHAs) in response to the COVID-19 national emergency.
HUD’S RESPONSE TO TENANT CONCERNS REGARDING RENT AND THE TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF EVICTIONS FOR NONPAYMENT OF RENT
On March 27, 2020 the president signed into law a Temporary Moratorium on Eviction Filings under the Coronavirus Aid Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”).
