Clinton-Peabody residents recently gathered for a redevelopment community meeting focused on available resources, neighborhood updates and the future of public education in St. Louis.
The meeting was led by Preservation of Affordable Housing Community Impact Manager Bryce Gibson, who provided residents with information about resources available through the St. Louis Housing Authority and shared construction updates on the upcoming Clinton-Peabody redevelopment.
The SLHA Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Program was also onsite, connecting residents with utility assistance and other supportive resources.
Education was a major focus of the meeting. Saint Louis Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Myra M. Berry attended and answered questions from residents about the future of the school district and how upcoming decisions may directly affect families in the Clinton-Peabody community.
Peabody Elementary School Principal Dr. Shontrice Garrett also joined the meeting to address residents’ questions and discuss the school’s role in supporting students and families.
Representatives from AFT St. Louis, Local 420 included First Vice President Steven Hill and Retiree Chapter Chair Byron Clemens. The organization represents teachers and school support personnel within Saint Louis Public Schools and advocates for education professionals and public education throughout the city.
Residents also received information about free financial education and coaching from Robert Nelson V, Director of Coaching at Prosperity Connection. The nonprofit helps St. Louis area residents strengthen their financial knowledge and work toward their financial goals through education, coaching and access to trusted financial resources at no cost.
The resident meeting created an opportunity for Clinton-Peabody families to ask questions, receive important updates and connect directly with organizations working to support the community.
