Friendly, lively and outgoing—those are the three words Echelle uses to describe herself. But if you ask her family and friends, they’ll tell you to lead with artsy, innovative, and driven, thanks to her relentless pursuit of a better future. A gifted crocheter, Echelle pours her personality into every stitch, creating beautiful, comforting pieces that bring joy and warmth to individuals going through tough times.
“I’m just trying my best to get through life,” Echelle shared humbly. But behind her modest words is a woman building a meaningful path forward.
Through the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program at SLHA, Echelle has been matched with valuable resources and support services that align with her personal and professional goals. The FSS team has helped her explore opportunities, improve her financial literacy, and stay focused on long-term stability.
While many admire the potential of her handcrafted creations—some even calling it a “gold mine”—Echelle remains focused on utilizing her degree in Office Information to reach her ultimate goal.
“My dream job is to be an administrator,” she said with determination. “I have the skills employers are looking for to manage office operations.”
Echelle is a shining example of how creativity, ambition, and community support can work together to build a better tomorrow. Her journey reminds us that self-sufficiency is not a solo act—it takes connection, courage, and commitment.
